You are holding the first issue of 2012 of the Indian Journal of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology (vol. 26, no. 1). The new issue comes with many a welcome changes. First and foremost, this year onward, the publisher of the journal has been changed for good. The journal is now published by Medknow Publications, a unit of Wolters Kluwer Health. The outlook has changed. The journal is now available online, and the online link to the journal ( www.journalonweb.com/ijaai ) offers authors and reviewers an interactive platform to submit and follow the progress of their submitted articles. Authors/reviewers are requested to communicate through this facility henceforth, as from now on, we do not encourage communication through post. The journal is now indexed with Caspur, EBSCO Publishing's Electronic Databases, Expanded Academic ASAP, Genamics JournalSeek, Global Health, Google Scholar, Health and Wellness Research Center, Health Reference Center Academic, Hinari, Index Copernicus, Indian Science Abstracts, IndMed, MANTIS, OpenJGate, PrimoCentral, ProQuest, SCOLOAR, SIIC databases, Summon by Serial Solutions, and Ulrich's International Periodical Directory. Efforts will be made to get the journal indexed with other databases also.

This issue contains a study of palmar dermatoglyphics in patients with bronchial asthma and their first-degree relatives. The study reports a significant difference in the dermatoglyphic pattern of asthmatics in comparison to controls and also proposes the same as a predictor of asthma in first-degree relatives of asthmatics. Another article from Iraq explores the bronchodilator effects of licorice (Glycirrhiza glabra) and olibanum (Boswellia carterii) in patients with bronchial asthma. Interestingly, the article not only demonstrates significant bronchodilator effect of the two herbs, but also shows licorice to be superior to olibanum in controlling the symptoms of asthma.

A case reported from Agra brings to note a rather unusual presentation of the often "silent" Chiladiti syndrome: respiratory distress. Another case discusses the Churg-Strauss syndrome as a cause of persistent pulmonary eosinophilia.

Magnesium sulfate is a well-established adjunct in the management of asthmatics who are not responsive to standard therapy. A case report highlights the usefulness of this molecule in the management of a ventilated case of acute severe asthma, apparently not responding to usual management. Another case discusses the role of various antibodies in autoimmune disorders, in particular, anti-Golgi antibodies and cryoglobulins, in a case of ANA-negative Sjogren's syndrome.

Also presented is the case of a male patient with COPD who was diagnosed to have co-existing ABPA. The article elucidates the possible pathologic mechanisms underlying this rather rare association.

Finally, this issue contains abstracts of scientific papers presented at ICAAICON 2011, held at Aurangabad, India, in December 2011.

We request researchers/allergologists/clinicians/allergists, who are associated with research on allergy, asthma, and immunology, to contribute research articles in the form of original research, case reports, and reviews for consideration of publication in the IJAAI. Our efforts are to improve the contents of the journal, and for that, sincere contributions from all of you are very much required. We welcome any suggestions for improvement in the status and contents of the journal. We thank all the pharmaceutical concerns and advertisers for financial support to the journal.

Wish you happy reading!
